چکیده

The morphology evolution of -hydride precipitation and growth in a zirconium bi-crystal was simulated using a phase field kinetic model. The effects of grain boundary and uniformly applied load were studied. The temporal evolution of the spatially dependent field variables is determined by numerically solving the time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau equations for the structural variables and the Cahn–Hilliard diffusion equation for the concentration variable. It is demonstrated that nucleation density of the hydride at the grain boundary increases as compared to the bulk and favorable hydride precipitation at the grain boundary become weaker when an external load is applied. The result also showed that hydrides will grow in those habit planes that are near the perpendicular direction of the applied tensile load. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Computer Simulation of Hydride Precipitation in Bi-crystalline Zirconium

γ-hydride precipitation and growth in a zirconium bi-crystal were simulated using a phase field kinetic model. The temporal evolution of the spatially dependent field variables is determined by numerically solving the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations for the structural variables and the Cahn-Hilliard diffusion equation for the concentration variable. The morphology evolution of γ-hydrid...

Application of Neutron Radiography and Neutron Diffraction Techniques in Study of Zirconium Hydride Blisters in Zirconium Based Pressure Tube Materials

A programme of examining hydride blisters created in the laboratory on zircaloy pressure tubes and that in the irradiated pressure tube from one of the PHWR , which was suspected to have developed hydride blisters, was undertaken using neutron radiography. It was observed that a zirconium hydride blister of nearly 0.35% of job thickness could be detected using neutron radiography. This work ser...

Nonclassical β-hydrogen elimination of hydrosilazido zirconium compounds via direct hydrogen transfer.

Salt metathesis reactions of Cp(2)(NR(2))ZrX (X = Cl, I, OTf) and lithium hydrosilazides ultimately afford hydride products Cp(2)(NR(2))ZrH that suggest unusual β-hydrogen elimination processes. A likely intermediate in one of these reactions, Cp(2)Zr[N(SiHMe(2))t-Bu][N(SiHMe(2))(2)], is isolated under controlled synthetic conditions. Addition of alkali metal salts to this zirconium hydrosilazi...

Mesoporous Silica-Supported Amidozirconium-Catalyzed Carbonyl Hydroboration

The hydroboration of aldehydes and ketones using a silica-supported zirconium catalyst is reported. Reaction of Zr(NMe2)4 and mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) provides the catalytic material Zr(NMe2)n@MSN. Exhaustive characterization of Zr(NMe2)n@MSN with solid-state (SS)NMR and infrared spectroscopy, as well as through reactivity studies, suggests its surface structure is primarily ≡SiOZr...

Isolable zirconium hydride species in the reaction of amido complexes with amine-boranes.

Mono-, di- and trinuclear zirconium hydride species have been isolated in the treatment of amido complexes [Zr(η5-C5Me5)(NMe2)nCl3-n] (n = 3, 1) with amine-borane adducts NHR2BH3 (R2 = Me2, HtBu). The reactions involve the formation of amidoborane ligands with ZrH-B interactions which readily undergo β-hydride elimination to give hydride functions.
